Fall is in the air, and many of Harrisburg's fabulous restaurants are changing their menus to take full advantage of the season's bountiful fruits and vegetables. Here are just a few of the exciting fall flavors in Harrisburg!

  • TJ Homestyle, 600 Bridge St., New Cumberland
    • Nothing is better when the weather turns cool than to start your day with a great breakfast, and this place fits the bill. Daily breakfast specials include baked apple oatmeal and creamed chipped beef over toast. For lunch, enjoy a modern twist on old time favorites like a cheese steak gyro or a BLT chicken wrap.

  • Aangan Classic Indian and Nepalese Cuisine, 3500 Walnut St., Harrisburg
    • Nothing like a good thick curry or spicy chicken tikka masala to fill you up before heading out to enjoy one of the area's great fall festivals. Offering a traditional Indian buffet during lunch and menu dining in the evening, most of the offerings at this restaurant can be adjusted to your particular preference for spiciness. 

  • Lancaster Brewing Company, 302 North Plum St., Lancaster
    • Nothing says fall like a specialty beer brewed specifically for the season and paired with an extensive menu including fun appetizers, thin-crust pizzas, and wonderful chicken, fish, beef, and pork sandwiches and entrees. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the month of October, this fun food hub offers a traditional Oktoberfest menu, including great in-house brewed ales and lagers.

  • Alvaro Bread & Pastry Shoppe, 236 Peffer St., Harrisburg
    • Some of the best fall flavors in Harrisburg are found at this cozy corner restaurant and bakery located right in the heart of Old Uptown. Alvaro's pastas, sauces, breads, and pastries are made in-house, using all fresh ingredients. The dessert menu is extensive and includes three flavors of cannoli along with 15 flavors of homemade gelato! 

       

  • Arepa City, 316 N. Second St., Harrisburg
    • Can you believe there is Venezuelan restaurant right in the heart of 2nd Street's Restaurant Row? Arepa City has an extensive menu of great, fresh offerings complete with gluten free corn bun arepas, a corn flat bread that can be filled with a wide selection of meats, vegetables, and cheeses. This is the perfect place if you like to have a hand in your menu choices; so many of their tasty dishes can be made vegetarian. And if you've never experienced a patacone, this is the place! This open-faced green plantain sandwich can be served with everything from pork to grilled fresh veggies. 

  • Bricco, 31 S. 3rd St., Harrisburg
    • Bricco is a culinary compilation of Mediterranean and Italian delights! Introducing a new menu for every season and using all locally fresh produce and locally raised meat and dairy, Bricco is a joint collaboration between the Harrisburg Hilton and Olewine School of Culinary Arts.
