Kia Cadenza vs. Toyota Avalon

Kia has a new brand-leading model in the form of the Cadenza, and the car company is touting the model as their best car yet, even as a flagship. That said, while the Cadenza may very well be the leader among its own brand family, some might want to compare the car to a viable category competitor, such as the Toyota Avalon. Granted, the best way to really try out both cars is to test drive them. However, here is a specification rundown of how the two vehicles compare. And don't look to retail price to be a big differentiating factor, because the two cars are very close to each other in terms of sticker numbers.

Engine

In a Cadenza versus Avalon comparison of car engine power, some interesting performance details stand out. The Kia Cadenza includes a 3.3 liter engine block under its hood that puts out 293 horsepower and is rated a V6 for the purposes of comparison. This design provides 28 mpg on the highway in terms of fuel efficiency.

The Toyota Avalon also includes a V6 engine, but their engine block is a 3.5 liter design. However, despite the slightly larger engine, the Avalon only produces 268 horsepower, notably weaker in terms of output.  That said, the Avalon gives a driver 31 mpg on the highway.

Interior Comparisons

The Kia Cadenza provides a very nice package for those wanting an entry-level car in the luxury bracket. However, what really stands out is that the Cadenza includes accessories and features that are either only available as options or not available at all on the Avalon. These include a 12-speaker sound system, movable and active front headrests, and automated control assistance on hills or inclines. As an option, the Cadenza can also come with a memory feature for the steering column which comes in handy if a car is used by more than one person with different heights.

The Toyota Avalon makes a solid effort at automotive luxury with leather upholstery on all the seats and a dashboard that gives the impression of real, natural hide leather (it's vinyl, however). Even in the base model, the driver's area is very roomy and comfortable without any pinching or constriction of space. The controls have a very futuristic look but are still within very close reach of the steering wheel, so the driver won't be distracted. Finally, interior controls are managed with a 6.1 inch touchscreen.

So in a Cadenza versus Avalon, the two cars measure up fairly close in interior features, but the Cadenza includes a few powerful items that are optional on an Avalon, with a higher price.

Cadenza vs Avalon

The Kia Cadenza definitely packs a competitive punch and racks up against the Avalon very well. Both inside and outside, the Kia car measures up closely or a bit better than the Toyota. Additionally, the handling and the fact that many of the equipment features are standard instead of additional costs for options bodes well for the Cadenza as well. That said, customers who want do their own Cadenza versus Avalon comparison really need to sit down and get behind the driver's wheel to fully understand the difference between the cars.
