The KIA Cadenza and Hyundai Genesis are both luxury cars that do a little bit of dabbling into sports performance, but are ultimately chosen for their ability to provide comfort and luxury to their passengers along with an array of safety features and stylish trim. In an overall analysis of the two cars against each other, it's fairly obvious that the Cadenza squeezes out ahead of the Genesis barely due to the Cadenza's  focus on delivering a package both drivers and passengers will enjoy, while the Hyundai model seems ultimately focused on passengers to the detriment of the driving experience.

The Genesis offers an incredibly roomy cabin, with leg room even for taller passengers and drivers to feel dexterous and nimble, while also having a larger than average trunk space. Both cars offer very stylish interior trim and upholstery, although the KIA's leather seats seem to offer a bit more value per dollar than the Hyundai's. The KIA Cadenza, too, offers an incredibly small ride and a suspension system that prevents the car from feeling like a boat on the inside and outside. The Genesis offers a quiet ride, similar to the Cadenza, but not if you opt for the Genesis' R-spec package.

Under the hood, both cars are V-6's (unless you opt for the Hyundai Genesis R-spec package) and the Cadenza does squeeze a little less acceleration out of its engine than the Genesis. This lack of acceleration isn't overwhelmingly noticeable, but will be felt if accelerating up a hill or otherwise performing high-powered acts of acceleration. Once out of the gate, however, the Cadenza is quite speedy and responsive, and its handling does beat out the Genesis by a fair margin, as the Genesis has a much harder time staying on course on highway driving due to touchy handling and a lack of road-feel in the way the car reacts to the road requiring a highly attentive driver to keep from throwing itself off of the highway through twists and turns.

Both cars are considered quite safe, but the Cadenza offers a very full suite of safety options, including a full suite of airbags, as well as extra side-curtain air bags. The Cadenza comes with a rear camera system as standard on the model, which is noticeable due to the Genesis placing that same safety feature as purely optional. Although the Cadenza hasn't been fully tested, it is related in structure to the Azera, which has very good safety scores. The Genesis has some higher end options, but the Cadenza's single-spec philosophy allows for it to remain safe no matter your budget, and the Cadenza is already fairly attractively priced for this kind of car and what it offers.

Overall, if you're looking for a luxury car this year that has excellent safety features and great handling, you're going to want to go with the KIA Cadenza. While the Hyundai Genesis puts up quite a fight as a model with a similar focus as the KIA, it doesn't, on the whole, do quite as much as it could to compare against a car that both outperforms and undercuts it by being a good deal cheaper.
