Kia K9 Pop Concept Car Reviewed

Every once in a while, a car comes along that once you see it, you never forget it. Trust us when we say that the Kia K9 Pop concept car is one of these vehicles. The moment you lay eyes on it, this all-electric car will hold your attention, even if you're in the market for an SUV rather than a car that barely seats three.

Kia K9 Pop Concept Car Offers A Design That Really "Pops"

Pardon the pun, but the design of the Kia K9 Pop concept car sticks out like a sore thumb ... but in a good way. What makes the design so unique? Well, first of all, it's silver on the outside and purple (with silver in places) on the inside. Or maybe it's lavender. It doesn't make much of a difference, however, because that's only the beginning. The body looks like something from the future Hill Valley in Back to the Future II. The Kia K9 Pop concept car eats up to three people, utilizing a 2+1 configuration (two in the front, one in the back). The driver and passenger windows may be its most stand-out features, shaped in a long, angled oval. The gullwing doors open toward the hood. The wheels have a look all their own. And while details haven't been released on the interior comforts, the look is stylish and the technology inside is sure to be in keeping with Kia's image.

Technical Aspects of the Kia K9 Pop That May Surprise You

Once you get past the design, it's the technical aspects that might surprise you most. In the market for a small car? The Pop is more than two feet shorter than a Mini Cooper, at only 118 inches. Under its hood is a 50 kilowatt electric motor with a range of 100 miles. Top speed for this little guy is actually rather healthy, at 87 mph.

But let's call a spade, a spade. This car was not meant for cross country drives. It's not even that well equipped to take it too far out of town. If you do, you'll want to make sure you know where all the charging stations are located. The Kia Pop  was clearly designed for mostly city driving and is not meant to be a primary family car. But as a fun vehicle that looks unique and can get you from point A to point B at a low cost, it's a great little machine.
