2020 Optima vs 2020 Accord: Technology

Both the Kia Optima and the Honda Accord offer progressive technology to make any commute more connected and enjoyable. While they have some similar features, including standard Bluetooth® capability and available wireless charging pads, there are a lot of differences to take note of as well.

For example, the 2020 Kia Optima offers an array of tech amenities that are found standard in every trim level. This includes an 8-inch touch-screen multimedia center that offers Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration as well as Siri Eyes Free®.

This hub also controls your 6-speaker sound system that can be upgraded to the available 10-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Surround Sound audio system. This elevates your listening experience with QuantumLogic™ with Clari-Fi™ technology, 630 watts, and 10 speakers.

Unfortunately, a lot of the standard features found in the Optima are only available on the higher trims of the Honda Accord. This includes the 8-inch touch-screen and smartphone capability since only a 7-inch display comes standard. Plus, Siri Eyes Free® isn't available at all.

As for sound systems, the Accord offers a standard 4-speaker setup that can be upgraded to a premium 10-speaker system. However, it only boasts 450 watts and doesn't include the high-end technology that the Optima sports.

Kia Optima vs Honda Accord: Safety

To ensure all drivers have the confidence they need, both the 2020 Optima and the 2020 Accord come equipped with standard safety suites that offer great peace of mind.

In the Optima, you'll find Kia Drive Wise, presenting you with a plethora of systems. These act as a co-pilot when you're behind the wheel to enhance visibility and lend an extra hand by automatically steering and braking when you need it. Some of these systems include:

  • Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning
  • Parking Distance Warning-Reverse
  • Lane Change Assist, Lane Keeping Assist-Line, & Lane Departure Warning
  • Forward Collision Warning & Forward Collision-Avoidance with Pedestrian Detection
  • Driver Attention Warning

In the Accord, the Honda Sensing™ system offers several similar features, such as Collision Mitigation, Road Departure Mitigation, and Lane Keeping Assist. However, if you want blind-spot monitoring, you'll have to purchase a higher trim to receive it.

Additionally, a lot of features, such as Driver Attention Warning, Rear-Cross Traffic Collision Warning, and parking assistance aren't available at all.

2020 Honda Accord vs Kia Optima: Verdict

It's clear that these two sedans offer a lot to drivers on the roads of Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg, and Carlisle. With elevated technologies, enhanced safety, and more standard features in the 2020 Kia Optima, we think drivers will prefer it over the Accord.
