2018 Kia Sportage vs. Chevy Equinox

On the hunt for a compact SUV that's not only adventure ready but offers all the comfort and safety you could want for your busy life in Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg or Carlisle? You're in the right place! Below, we'll help you compare the 2018 Kia Sportage vs. Chevy Equinox.

We at Fred Beans Kia of Mechanicsburg are going to help you decide which of these impressive vehicles is a better fit for you and your lifestyle. Let's get started by looking under the hood!

Sportage vs. Equinox: Performance

The 2018 Kia Sportage comes equipped with a standard 2.4-L 4-cylinder engine which comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drivetrain. With this model, you can also opt for the available Dynamax™ All-Wheel Drive system, which smartly monitors road conditions using sensors and then delivers the exact right amount of power to each wheel to maximize traction and control.

Additionally, the Sportage goes above and beyond for the adventurers among us. When properly equipped with the optional 2.0-L Turbocharged engine and other additional equipment, the Sportage is capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds.

With the 2018 Chevy Equinox, you won't get quite as much power or capability. This model is fitted out with a smaller standard 1.5-L 4-cylinder engine. Even when equipped with one of its more powerful available engines, the Equinox can only tow a maximum of 1,500 pounds.

Sportage vs. Equinox: Interior Comfort

Whether you're taking the highway or the back roads, you'll want to be comfortable. Luckily, the 2018 Kia Sportage delivers with a variety of luxurious interior features, starting with heated front seats available in every trim level, standard leather seating in two of three trim levels, standard 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, available heated rear seats and available ventilated front seats.

Many of these features are, unfortunately, not offered in the 2018 Chevy Equinox. There is no leather seating option or 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat in any trim level of this vehicle. You'll have to settle for 8-way power-adjustable and synthetic leather seats.

Sportage vs. Equinox: Advanced Safety

Safety is a priority of most, if not all, SUV drivers. With the 2018 Kia Sportage and the 2018 Chevy Equinox, you won't have to worry while you drive. Both come equipped with standard Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control Systems, Anti-Lock Braking Systems and rear-view cameras.

The Sportage takes safety a step further with the addition of Autonomous Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. These features act like a second set of eyes on the road and even go as far as to take action when a collision is detected.

A few of these features are available in the Equinox, and the ones that are offered in this model don't come standard in any of the Equinox's trim levels.

2018 Kia Sportage vs. Chevy Equinox: Which One?

As you can see, the 2018 Kia Sportage goes above and beyond, while the 2018 Chevy Equinox does just enough. This isn't all the Sportage has to offer. It's time to make the short drive from Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg or Carlisle to get behind the wheel and see for yourself.
