Kia Trackster Concept Car Reviewed

The ultra-sharp Kia Trackster concept car drew plenty of attention and was a huge hit at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, but Kia's production team has yet to put the car on the assembly line.  Scott McKee, spokesman for the automaker, stated that the Kia Trackster concept car was not intended for production, but rather was developed to gather information from the media and potential consumers.

The Trackster is actually the inspiration for Kia's Soul, most known for its catchy "dancing hamster" commercials.  And although the Soul does bear similarity to the Trickster, the concept car is definitely more of an eye-catching and sporty compact.  The boxy, low-slung body and snubbed front end actually resemble a Mini Cooper more than anything else.  While the Trickster has features the Kia Soul does not, such as two doors instead of four, all-wheel drive, and more performance-oriented functionality, Kia maintains that the Trickster is the catalyst for the Soul's evolution.

Featuring a turbo-charged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 250 horses, a six-speed manual transmission, and that super-hot body sitting on 19-inch wheels, the Kia Trickster is a sporty compact that is made for street racing - not that we'd recommend such things, of course.

Unfortunately, like we said, the Trickster is a concept and Kia has no plans to put the design into production.  So - if wishes were horses, we'd have at least 250 of them under the hood of a snazzy little road-ready sport machine sitting on our lot right now!
